undercroft

Tuesday’s gig at Live Theatre went well. It was great working with Andrew and Rowan once again. The Undercroft is a great space for poetry readings.

Andrew, Rowan and I hope to do some more gigs together soon.

allotments no1

Allotments No 1 the first handmade book collaboration by myself and printmaker Anne Proctor is now available for sale. The book contains my poem, Rectangle of Hope plus 14 pages of Anne’s images. The images are a mix of hand embossed, hand drawn with pencil, scanned watercolours and pen drawings plus four pages of hand printed photoetch and collagraph images. The book is a celebration of nature, people, physical graft and flasks of tea.

The book costs £10 and is available every Saturday and Sunday from Anne’s stall on the westbound platform at Tynemouth Station market and from my stall on the eastbound platform every Saturday. Copies of this book plus Anne’s work will be available at future poetry gigs.

Anne and I are working on our next project about…ooh I couldn’t possibly say

traceGearing up for tonight’s sold out gig at Live Theatre. Had lunch with friends inc Jen who has hand stitched the very first copy of Allotments No1 so I can take it along to the gig tonight. It looks great!
Backcombing my hair and polishing my DMs to Tracey Thorn’s first album A Distant Shore
I’m sure, like her song Plain Sailing everything will go to plan.
Mind you Apples and Snakes coordinator, Mistress Kirsten is ill so we will miss her smiling face and warm up exercises tha neet.

Anne showed me the proof copy of our first collaboration, Allotments No 1 today. It made me put the Parma Violets on the jukebox so I could have a pogo to celebrate!

It’s very moving seeing her images next to my words. I handed over my words and Anne has placed them on pages. I have had no input or control about where the words sit. This is an odd experience for someone used to choosing her words carefully.

My friend Jen will hand stitch copies of the book and it will be available for sale next week £10 each. You can pick up copies at Anne and I’s respective stalls at Tynemouth market. I will also be taking orders at my forthcoming gig at Live Theatre on Tuesday 19th March.

The gig is sold out! Andrew, Rowan and I are meeting for a run through tomorrow. I look forward to catching up with them and the divine Kirsten Luckins from Apples and Snakes.

Tynemouth Station

Anne Proctor and I have stalls at Tynemouth Station’s groovy, vibrant weekend market. Come and say hello!

Anne Proctor showed me our Allotment book work in progress yesterday. It looks amazing and Anne has got all sorts of plans for how the finished product will look. The project looks set to involve a friend of mine which I find exciting.
Anne also plans to produce prints incorporating my words. This will take my words way, way beyond the “ordinary page”. I’m thrilled at the prospect.
Allotment book and prints will be available for sale this spring. More details to follow
